Default Playing the Crafting Material Stock Exchange?

Has anyone had any real luck with this? I've gotten a good idea of how it's done from other threads, but I haven't been able to really pinpoint the best time to purchase materials.

Maybe some of you could share your experiences and techniques for doing this?

I sell Deldrimor Steel Ingots. I invest about 400g for each of it, and sell it out for at least 700g. It really depends on the price and I make a nice profit off it at Granite Citadel.

You can do it and I do but you have to no the market norms and when theres a large dip (to buy) and a spike (to sell). You can't make money on the minimum differences but on the extremes you can, you just have to be abel to pinpoint these extremes well.

Take Iron. The minimum that the trader will sell for is 150 gold for 10 ingots or 15 gold per ingot. For you to make any money on this the trader would have to be selling iron for 260 gold per 10 ingots (subtract 100 from his selling price for his buying price) and that 260 is at a minimal 1 gold per ingot profit. I have only seen the trader hit over 260 once and it was a purposly created circumstance (I was seeing something). But on dyes and the more volatile materials such as obsidian shards you can make money doing this.

Basically you better know what you are doing or you will be screwed out of more money than scammers can get from you.

EDIT: If you want a more detailed explanation find my post about how to make money and PM it to me and I will explain how to play the markets in detail.

Default success....

Yes, I have had success with it. Back when I would have nothing to do for an afternoon I would farm for fur...then go and wait for after normal work hours in america, when alot more people signed on and sell my fur to the merchants for 300+ a piece . Every now and again when the price of linen is high, i go and buy plany fibers and sink some gold into making linen and then sell the linen to the rare material merchants...It only nets about a 5% profit off of the investment so for people with alot of gold it is effective, but I find steel, Fur and cloth are the best. Cloth because some things can be salvaged for alot and when the price goes from 3->5 gold, it is a 66% (from 3) increase. A lot of the trouble is timing. Leather is also good because alot of hides either salvage for fur or hide, so take the hide sink a 50 and make leather that sells for sometimes 100+. I made about 80k in an afternoon once. Sadly, there is a cost. I could have had a social life, but instead I wanted the over priced armour, because it was there...
